Winning at Online Craps
Boxcars! “Snake eyes!” “Seven come11!” Does the lingo sound familiar yet arcane? That;s because you’ve probably heard it in movies or read it in books. It’s dice talk.The call of the wild? No! The call of the dice player.
“Snake eyes” is two ones — a 2 — and “boxcars” is two sixes — a 12. Snake eyes derive their name from the two single points on the dice, which, when placed together, resemble a pair of eyes, though why they are snake eyes vs. some other animal’s (or human’s) eyes is a mystery to this logger. Boxcars resemble the railroad cars of that name.
Snakeeyes can be achieved only by rolling two 1s; similarly, boxcars appear only when you rolll rwo 6s. Sevens,though,can be a 4 and a 3, a 5 and a 2, or a 6 and a 1. Elevens? Six and 5.
Siimilarly, 3s can be made by rolling 2 and 1; 4’s by 3 and 1 or 2 and 2; 5s by 3 and 2 or 4 and1; 6s by 3 and 3 or 4 and 2 or 5 1 and 1; 8s by 6 and 2 or 5 and 3 or 4 and 4; 9s by 6 and 3 or 5 and 4.
If you look at the figures above, you’ll see that it’s easier to roll certain “points” (goals) than others. So no wonder that 7 comes up more. After 7, 5, 6, and 8 are the most common rolls.
And it’s good for you if 7 comes up for you on your come-out roll. It’s an instant win. But if not, you don’t want to see it thereafter. On your come-out roll — the first roll of the dice you take — if you roll a , it’s an instant win. The same is true of rolling an 11. On the other hand, count yourself an instant loser if you roll a 2 (snakeyes), a 3, or a 12 (boxcars). If you get any other number but one of these, and you wish to win (and, hey, why are you playing if not to win?!), you need to roll that same number again before you roll a 7. If you rolll a 7 first, you lose, plain and simple. (If you do roll a 7, it’s called “sevening out.”)
But you don’t have to roll the dice to play craps You can bet on other players (which, in craps parlance, makes you a “fader”).
Eiither way — roller or fader — you’ll find craps is a fun game and an exciting game to engage in.
